Yarmouth, ME – Thick fog is creating hazardous driving conditions across parts of Maine this morning, including a significant traffic disruption on I-295 southbound in Yarmouth. A tractor trailer rollover near the Rte. 1 overpass at mile marker 17 has reduced traffic to one lane. Emergency crews are working to clear the scene, but delays are expected to continue.
The dense fog, which has reduced visibility to a quarter-mile or less, has also triggered a weather advisory across several counties in Maine. The National Weather Service issued the alert, warning drivers of poor visibility that could make travel dangerous. The advisory is in effect until 3 a.m. Tuesday.
Authorities urge anyone driving this morning to slow down, use headlights, and maintain plenty of distance between vehicles. With fog still thick across affected areas, motorists should expect potential slowdowns and exercise extra caution, especially near the crash site.
