Houston, TX – Dense fog is reducing visibility across several coastal regions of Texas, with a Marine Dense Fog Advisory in effect through 10 AM Tuesday. The advisory covers areas including Galveston Bay, Matagorda Bay, and the coastal waters from Freeport to the Matagorda Ship Channel, as well as various bays like Baffin Bay, Corpus Christi, and Nueces Bays.
According to the National Weather Service, the fog is expected to reduce visibility to one mile or less, with areas of extremely low visibility of 1/4 to 1/2 nautical mile in some places. The fog is expected to spread northward throughout the night and may persist into Tuesday morning.
Marine travelers are advised to use caution. Those navigating these waters should ensure their radar and compass are operational and activate running lights. Fog signals are also recommended to increase visibility. Conditions will be monitored overnight, and additional updates will be issued if the advisory is extended.
The dense fog may continue to impact navigation, especially in the bays and waters stretching from Baffin Bay to Port Aransas, and further out in the Gulf of Mexico.
