Caribou, ME – A coastal system passing just offshore tonight will bring a mix of rain and light snow to Downeast Maine, with a dusting possible inland, according to the National Weather Service in Caribou.
The agency said conditions will dry out through Tuesday before a stronger system arrives Tuesday night, bringing rain across much of Maine and the potential for light snow in the north. Wet roads and low visibility could affect Thanksgiving travel, especially along coastal routes.
“Another system quickly follows, bringing more rain through Thanksgiving Day,” forecasters said. “The greatest chance for rain is Wednesday night, tapering off from south to north Thursday.”
Temperatures are expected to remain near seasonal norms, with daytime highs in the 40s and lows in the 30s. Light snow showers may linger into Friday and Saturday, mainly across northern areas.
Drivers are urged to allow extra time and remain alert for slick spots, especially during the overnight transitions between rain and snow.
