Twin Cities, MN – The National Weather Service in the Twin Cities is warning travelers to prepare for snow and strong winds beginning Tuesday afternoon through early Wednesday, potentially affecting Thanksgiving travel plans.
Rain is expected to transition to snow by Tuesday evening as colder air moves in. Areas north of I-94, including western and central Minnesota, have the highest chance of several inches of accumulation. Gusty northwesterly winds up to 40 mph may create blowing snow and reduced visibility, making road travel difficult late Tuesday into Wednesday morning.
The storm system has shifted slightly south, increasing the snow potential north of I-94. Travelers are advised to check forecasts before heading out, drive slowly, and carry an emergency kit in their vehicles.
