Philadelphia, PA – Thanksgiving travelers in northern Pennsylvania and the Northeast should prepare for possible heavy snow and travel delays.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) forecasts a slight to moderate risk (20–60%) of heavy snow between November 27 and December 3. Northern Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine could see snow accumulation affecting major roads and airports. According to NOAA, the highest risk spans from Wednesday to Friday, aligning with peak holiday travel.
Cold temperatures may accompany snow, with wind chills dropping significantly. NOAA advises monitoring forecasts closely and planning ahead for potential hazards. A moderate chance of hazardous winds (40–60%) is also predicted in areas of the central Appalachians and Northeast.
Travelers are urged to prepare for delays, carry winter gear, and adjust itineraries as needed. Local agencies encourage staying informed through weather updates and alerts.
