Lubbock, TX – A winter storm warning has been issued for several counties in the Texas Panhandle, with heavy snow and gusty winds forecast to impact the region starting at 1 AM Saturday. The warning is set to remain in effect until 1 AM Sunday.

The National Weather Service issued the alert on Friday, warning that total snow accumulations could reach up to 4 inches, with some areas possibly seeing 6 to 7 inches. Wind gusts are expected to hit 45 mph, potentially bringing down tree branches and power lines.

The counties under the warning include Bailey, Hale, Lamb, Castro, Parmer, Swisher, Briscoe, Cochran, and Hockley. Cities such as Plainview, Muleshoe, Levelland, and Sundown are expected to be among the hardest-hit. Travel may become hazardous, with slippery roads and reduced visibility due to heavy snow and blowing winds.

The storm could cause isolated power outages as the snow accumulates on tree limbs. Residents are urged to prepare for the possibility of being stranded if traveling, with emergency supplies like flashlights, food, and water recommended in vehicles.
