San Antonio, Texas – Unseasonably mild temperatures and isolated thunderstorms could impact evening travel across Central and South-Central Texas tonight, with gusty winds and small hail possible in some areas.
According to the National Weather Service in Austin/San Antonio, low temperatures will stay well above normal—ranging from 69°F in Fredericksburg to 76°F in Eagle Pass—under mostly cloudy skies. A 20–30% chance of scattered showers and storms is forecast through midnight, with the strongest cells expected along the western Hill Country and near the I-35 corridor.
Cities including San Antonio, Austin, New Braunfels, and Hondo may see isolated thunderstorm activity. While widespread severe weather isn’t expected, any storm that does develop could bring lightning, brief downpours, and pea-sized hail. Drivers along I-10 and US-281 should remain alert for sudden slick spots and gusty winds.
Residents are advised to secure outdoor items and keep phones charged in case of brief power outages. This unusually warm pattern follows several cooler nights earlier in May, marking a potential shift toward early summer conditions.
No additional advisories have been issued yet, but updates are expected if storms intensify.
