Austin, TX – The National Weather Service (NWS) Austin-San Antonio has issued a Level 1 out of 5 risk for severe thunderstorms on Wednesday and Thursday, with large hail as a primary threat.
According to the NWS, the storms could bring hail up to one inch in diameter, strong wind gusts, and heavy rainfall. Some areas may also experience isolated tornadoes. The highest risk includes Austin, San Antonio, New Braunfels, Georgetown, and Burnet, with storms expected to intensify in the afternoon and evening hours.
The Severe Weather Outlook maps indicate a marginal risk across the region, meaning storms could be isolated but capable of producing damaging hail. Residents are advised to move vehicles to covered areas, secure outdoor items, and stay updated on weather alerts.
