Central Illinois Weather: Heavy Rain Thursday, Warm Weekend Ahead

Springfield, IL – A storm system from the Southern Plains will push into Central Illinois on Thursday, bringing rain and cooler temperatures.

The National Weather Service reports that rain will begin Thursday and continue into Friday, with totals between 0.25 and 0.75 inches. Higher amounts are possible south of the I-70 corridor. Friday will remain cool with highs in the mid-50s.

Once the rain moves out, a dry and warm weekend will follow. Saturday will be partly sunny with highs in the mid-40s. By Sunday, temperatures will rise to the upper 50s to near 60 degrees. Monday will stay mild but cooler, with highs in the mid-50s.

Residents should prepare for wet conditions Thursday and Friday but can expect a pleasant weekend ahead.
