San Antonio, TX – Gusty winds and dry conditions have prompted a Red Flag Warning for all of South-Central Texas, including San Antonio and Austin, in effect until 9 p.m. Wednesday. The National Weather Service warns that high fire danger and strong winds could create hazardous conditions throughout the region.

According to the National Weather Service Austin/San Antonio, northwest winds of 15-30 mph with gusts reaching 45 mph are expected. Relative humidity levels are critically low, between 5-15%, increasing the risk of wildfires. Residents are urged to avoid outdoor burning, secure loose objects, and properly dispose of cigarettes.

A separate Wind Advisory is also in place for parts of the Edwards Plateau and Northern Hill Country until 7 p.m. These conditions could lead to blowing dust and difficult driving for high-profile vehicles.

The forecast for the rest of the week shows gradually warming temperatures, with highs reaching the upper 80s by the weekend. Fire risks may persist, particularly in western Texas. Officials recommend staying informed and taking precautions to prevent fire outbreaks.
