San Angelo, TX – A cold front pushing through West Central Texas is expected to bring sub-freezing temperatures early Monday morning, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a Freeze Watch from 4 a.m. to 8 a.m.

According to the National Weather Service in San Angelo, temperatures are forecast to dip between 28°F and 32°F across the region, impacting cities including Abilene, Brownwood, Sweetwater, and San Angelo. The advisory, issued Saturday afternoon, covers more than 20 counties and remains in effect through the early morning hours of April 7.

Freeze conditions may result in damage to sensitive vegetation, kill newly planted crops, and affect exposed outdoor plumbing. Residents across the region are urged to take immediate precautions. These include covering or bringing in plants, wrapping outdoor pipes, and allowing indoor faucets to drip slowly overnight to prevent bursting.

Historically, early April freezes are uncommon for this part of Texas, making this event particularly concerning for agriculture and landscaping. Gardeners and farmers are advised to monitor updates and shield vulnerable crops as needed.

Temperatures are expected to rebound later Monday, with sunshine returning by the afternoon. Residents should stay tuned to local forecasts for any updates or upgrades to warnings.
