Fort Worth, TX – A record-breaking heatwave is set to sweep through Texas this Sunday, with the potential for temperatures reaching 100°F in some western counties. The heat comes with a high wind advisory and an elevated risk of wildfires.

According to the National Weather Service, areas west of I-35/35W, including Graham and Cisco, face the highest chance of breaking 100°F on Sunday, April 13. The Dallas-Fort Worth metro area is expected to see temperatures in the low 90s, with winds gusting up to 40 MPH.

Wind advisories are in effect for much of the region, with south winds ranging from 20 to 30 MPH. These high winds combined with dry conditions will create an elevated risk for grassfires, particularly in counties west of the interstate. The combination of heat and wind could worsen fire danger, making safety a priority for outdoor activities.

With temperatures expected to exceed 90°F in many cities, residents should prepare for intense sun and elevated wildfire conditions. Fire safety tips include avoiding outdoor burning, securing burnable debris, and staying aware of fire warnings in your area.
