Corpus Christi, TX – A warm and foggy start to the week is underway across South Texas as dense patchy fog sets in Monday night into early Tuesday, followed by a sharp rise in temperatures pushing into the mid-90s.
According to the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi, a persistent onshore flow is creating ideal conditions for areas of dense fog, especially during the early morning commute Tuesday. Temperatures overnight will dip into the low to mid-60s before rebounding sharply through the day.
Coastal areas, including Corpus Christi and Port Aransas, are expected to reach highs between 78°F and 88°F by Tuesday afternoon. Inland areas, particularly across the Rio Grande Plains, including Cotulla and Freer, could climb to 96°F. Light winds from the east-northeast will shift southeast by mid-day, promoting clearing skies and increasing warmth.
Drivers are urged to use caution early Tuesday due to reduced visibility from the fog. The NWS advises using low-beam headlights and allowing extra travel time.
Rain chances will increase later in the week, with the strongest storm potential arriving Thursday. Forecasters expect 60–90% chances of rain across South Texas by Thursday night, offering a potential cooldown from the week’s early heat surge.
