Austin, TX – Dense fog is expected to significantly reduce visibility across central and coastal Texas through Wednesday morning, impacting travel and marine navigation. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued multiple Dense Fog Advisories covering major highways and coastal waters.

According to the NWS, visibility in some areas may drop to a quarter mile or less. The Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 10 a.m. CST Wednesday for Austin, San Antonio, and surrounding counties, while coastal waters near Corpus Christi and Galveston are under advisory until noon CST Wednesday.

Areas Affected:

-Central Texas: Including Austin, San Antonio, Georgetown, New Braunfels, and surrounding counties.

-South Texas: La Salle, McMullen, Live Oak, Bee, Webb, Duval, Jim Wells, and Inland Kleberg Counties.

-Coastal Waters: Baffin Bay, Laguna Madre, Corpus Christi, Galveston, and Matagorda Bay.

Travel and Safety Concerns:

-Roadways: Hazardous driving conditions due to low visibility. Motorists should slow down, use low-beam headlights, and leave extra following distance.

-Marine Navigation: Mariners are advised to use radar, proper fog signals, and ensure navigation lights are operational.

The fog is expected to gradually lift by late Wednesday morning as temperatures rise. Travelers should check road and weather conditions before heading out.
