Austin, TX – A cold front moving through Texas overnight will bring shifting winds and increasing fire danger midweek.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Austin-San Antonio, mostly clear skies will persist in western Texas tonight, while eastern areas experience increasing cloud cover. Overnight, a cold front will push through, shifting winds to the northwest by Wednesday morning.
Critical fire weather conditions are expected Wednesday across central and western Texas, followed by elevated to near-critical fire risk Thursday. NWS advises residents in fire-prone areas to exercise caution, as dry and breezy conditions could quickly spread flames.
Temperatures will range from the mid to upper 50s tonight, with highs in the 60s and 70s through the weekend. Fire risk decreases by Friday, with minimal weather impacts expected into Saturday and Sunday.
Residents should monitor local alerts, avoid outdoor burning, and secure loose items that could fuel wildfires. More updates are available at weather.gov/ewx.
