Fort Worth, Texas – Scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue to move through North and Central Texas this afternoon, with isolated storms lingering into the overnight hours. While severe weather is not expected, the combination of heavy downpours, lightning, and gusty winds could still create hazards for evening commuters and late-night travelers.
According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, localized flooding is possible in areas where rainfall is most intense, especially around the Dallas-Fort Worth metro, Waco, and Canton. Frequent lightning strikes may also disrupt outdoor activities, and wind gusts could cause minor tree damage or power interruptions. Afternoon highs will remain in the 90s, adding to the muggy and unstable atmosphere fueling these storms.
Motorists are advised to slow down on wet roads, avoid driving through flooded low spots, and stay alert for reduced visibility during downpours. Those outdoors should seek shelter at the first sound of thunder.
Storm activity is expected to diminish overnight, but isolated showers may linger into early Wednesday morning. More updates will be issued if additional storm clusters develop later tonight.
