Dallas, Texas – A line of severe thunderstorms is moving through North and East Texas Tuesday, with potential for damaging winds and large hail prompting a Severe Thunderstorm Watch in 35 counties, including Dallas, Denton, and Smith. The threat is expected to persist through 4 p.m. CDT.

According to the National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center, the watch includes major population centers such as Fort Worth, Tyler, and Longview, and covers areas from Tarrant County to Nacogdoches. Forecasters warn that storms may develop rapidly, producing wind gusts over 60 mph and hail larger than quarters.

In the Dallas-Fort Worth area, residents could see quick-moving cells during the late morning into early afternoon, potentially affecting travel on I-35, I-20, and U.S. 75. Schools and daycares in areas like Plano, Mesquite, and Waxahachie are monitoring the situation for possible early dismissals. East of Dallas, places like Tyler and Marshall may encounter isolated hailstorms through early evening.

Texans are urged to stay indoors during lightning activity, secure outdoor items, and avoid travel where visibility or debris may pose hazards.

The Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains active until 4 p.m., but additional warnings could be issued if storm intensity increases later today.
