Waco, Texas – Residents across Central Texas should remain weather-aware Tuesday as a tornado watch remains in effect until 4 p.m., threatening areas from Waco to Killeen with severe thunderstorms capable of producing tornadoes, large hail, and damaging winds.

According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, Tornado Watch 231 includes Bell, Coryell, Falls, Lampasas, Leon, McLennan, Milam, and Robertson counties. Cities such as Temple, Waco, Fort Cavazos, Rockdale, and Buffalo could see fast-developing storms through the afternoon.

Emergency managers are urging people to stay near shelter and keep phones charged in case warnings are issued. Storms may move quickly, leaving little time to react. Outdoor plans should be postponed, and residents are advised to review tornado safety procedures.

Critical roadways like I-35, US-190, and TX-6 may be affected by sudden low visibility or debris. Schools and public facilities across impacted counties may adjust schedules or close early if conditions worsen.

The tornado watch is scheduled to expire at 4 p.m., but additional watches or warnings may be issued as the storm system continues to develop. Stay tuned to NOAA Weather Radio or local alerts for updates.
