San Antonio, Texas – Large hail and damaging winds could hit parts of south-central Texas Tuesday evening as a round of severe storms moves through the region, including San Antonio, Del Rio, and the western Hill Country.
According to the National Weather Service in Austin-San Antonio, a Level 1 to 2 out of 5 severe weather risk is in place through tonight for areas including the southern Edwards Plateau, Rio Grande Plains, and western Hill Country. The primary threats are hail up to the size of quarters and wind gusts strong enough to down tree limbs or power lines.
Cities such as Uvalde, Kerrville, and Eagle Pass could see scattered storms develop late afternoon into the evening hours. Travel may be impacted by slick roads or debris from wind. Residents are urged to secure outdoor items, charge electronic devices, and review emergency plans.
While this system is not expected to bring widespread flooding, isolated downpours could accompany stronger cells. The last time this region saw similar spring storm activity was in April 2022, when wind damage was reported in Medina and Bandera counties.
The severe risk continues until early Wednesday morning. More updates or warnings may be issued if conditions worsen.
