Kerrville, Texas – Residents across seven South Central Texas counties are being urged to stay alert overnight as a Tornado Watch remains in effect until 6 a.m. Tuesday, with dangerous storms continuing to sweep through the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Austin/San Antonio, Tornado Watch 229—previously set to expire at 4 a.m.—has been extended for Bandera, Edwards, Kerr, Kinney, Real, Uvalde, and Val Verde counties. The alert includes cities such as Del Rio, Uvalde, Kerrville, and Brackettville, where rotating storms capable of producing tornadoes may persist through early morning hours.

Emergency managers warn that isolated tornadoes, damaging wind gusts up to 70 mph, and large hail remain possible. Residents in rural areas or mobile homes are especially urged to monitor alerts and have a shelter plan ready. U.S. Highway 90 and State Highway 55 could see brief closures or delays if conditions worsen.

This marks one of the more intense early May severe weather events for the region, echoing similar overnight tornado threats seen in 2022. Locals should avoid travel and keep phones charged with alerts enabled.

Additional updates may be issued as the storm system moves east. Warnings remain in effect through sunrise Tuesday.
