Fort Worth, Texas – Strong to severe thunderstorms will continue sweeping across North and Central Texas through 5 p.m. Tuesday, bringing the risk of damaging winds, large hail, and localized flooding to cities including Sherman, Canton, and Palestine.
According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, the most intense storms are tracking eastward and will primarily impact areas along and east of I-35 this afternoon. A “severe” threat zone includes eastern portions of Central Texas, where all hazards—tornadoes, hail, flooding, and wind—are possible. North Texas cities such as Sherman and Canton are under a “strong” threat, with hail and wind being the primary risks.
The weather service advises residents in DFW, Tyler, Palestine, and surrounding areas to stay weather-aware and have multiple ways to receive warnings. Travel could become hazardous as intense downpours may flood roads, particularly in low-lying and rural areas. Residents should avoid driving through high water and seek shelter if warnings are issued.
This marks one of the more widespread severe weather events of the spring season for Texas, with conditions expected to taper off by early evening. Warnings remain in effect through 5 p.m., and additional alerts may be issued if new storms develop.
