Fort Worth, Texas – A volatile round of severe storms is expected to intensify Saturday evening into early Sunday across North Texas, bringing threats of flash flooding, large hail, and isolated tornadoes from Cisco to Gainesville.
According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, multiple storm waves will develop late Saturday, with the most dangerous conditions expected between 4 p.m. and 6 a.m. Sunday. A Flood Watch remains in effect until 1 p.m. Sunday for areas along the Red River, including Bowie, Sherman, and Graham, where rainfall totals could reach 4 to 5 inches.
The highest severe weather risk stretches from Cisco through DFW to Gainesville, where strong storms may produce hail larger than 2 inches and damaging winds above 60 mph. While the tornado threat remains low, rotating storms can’t be ruled out, especially near the front line moving east overnight.
DFW could see moderate rain and scattered storms, while regions farther south—including Waco, Killeen, and Palestine—are forecast to receive less than a quarter inch of rainfall.
Residents in flood-prone areas should prepare now: avoid low-water crossings, charge devices, and have multiple alert methods ready. Conditions are expected to improve by midday Sunday, but additional warnings may be issued overnight.
