Laredo, Texas – A line of dangerous thunderstorms may sweep across South Texas tonight, bringing large hail and damaging winds to areas including Laredo, Uvalde, and Del Rio before midnight.

According to the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi, a Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 12 a.m. CDT Friday for Webb, La Salle, and neighboring counties. Thunderstorms currently moving east from Mexico could intensify as they cross the border, with the strongest storms expected to reach Webb County between 9 p.m. and midnight.

The primary threats include scattered hail up to softball size, wind gusts reaching 75 mph, and frequent cloud-to-ground lightning. Cities such as Eagle Pass, Pearsall, Kerrville, and Boerne are also under the watch, with impacts likely on rural roads and major highways including I-35 and U.S. 277.

Residents are urged to secure outdoor items, avoid travel during the peak storm window, and remain indoors away from windows. Power outages are possible where winds are strongest. Emergency kits and fully charged devices are recommended.

This is the first widespread severe thunderstorm watch of the month for the region. Additional watches or warnings may be issued if storms hold their strength. Stay tuned to NOAA Weather Radio or local alerts for real-time updates.
