Amarillo, TX – A stretch of warm, mostly dry weather is expected to continue across the Texas Panhandle through the end of the workweek, with afternoon highs reaching the upper 80s to mid-90s and only limited opportunities for thunderstorms.

According to the National Weather Service in Amarillo, Wednesday through Friday will feature pleasant summer conditions, with daytime highs generally ranging from 87 to 94 degrees and overnight lows in the lower to middle 60s.

Forecasters said most of the region will remain dry, although they cannot completely rule out an isolated afternoon thunderstorm each day. The chance of storms will remain below 10% for most locations through Thursday.

Rain chances increase slightly on Friday, but only for the far southeastern Texas Panhandle, where a 20% to 30% chance of thunderstorms is forecast. The remainder of the Panhandle is expected to stay warm and predominantly dry.

Cities including Amarillo, Canyon, Borger, Dumas, Hereford, Pampa and Dalhart are forecast to experience comfortable mornings followed by seasonably warm afternoons under a mix of sun and clouds.

With no significant weather hazards anticipated for most of the area, residents can expect favorable conditions for outdoor activities. However, officials recommend staying hydrated, wearing lightweight clothing and using sunscreen during the hottest part of the afternoon.

The National Weather Service advises residents to continue monitoring the latest forecasts, especially those in the southeastern Panhandle, where thunderstorm chances could change as Friday approaches.
