Fort Worth, TX – Rain and thunderstorm chances will continue across North and Central Texas through Wednesday, with the greatest concern shifting to locally heavy rainfall and isolated flooding, according to forecasters.

According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, an upper-level low centered over the region will keep scattered showers and thunderstorms in the forecast through Wednesday. The best chances for rainfall will be across western and southern portions of Central Texas, although storms are possible throughout much of the region.

Most thunderstorms are expected to develop during the afternoon and evening hours. However, forecasters said parts of southwestern Central Texas could continue to see storms overnight.

While severe weather is not expected to be the primary threat, officials said heavy rainfall and localized flooding remain the biggest concerns. Slow-moving storms may produce significant rainfall over a short period, especially in areas that experience repeated rounds of thunderstorms.

The forecast includes scattered storms across portions of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, Waco, Killeen, Cisco, Graham, and surrounding communities, with the heaviest rain potential focused over parts of Central Texas.

The National Weather Service urges motorists to avoid driving through flooded roadways, reminding residents to “Turn Around, Don’t Drown.” Officials also recommend having a plan for interruptions to outdoor activities and moving indoors immediately if thunder is heard.

Residents are encouraged to monitor the latest forecasts and any watches or warnings that may be issued as rainfall coverage and storm locations become more defined through Wednesday.
