Amarillo, TX – The National Weather Service in Amarillo reports that a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until noon Thursday, with steady snow continuing across much of the Texas and Oklahoma Panhandles.

Forecasters expect total snow accumulations between one and four inches, with the heaviest snow falling in localized narrow bands that may cause quick bursts of accumulation and reduced visibility. Areas likely to see the most snow include Amarillo, Dumas, Pampa, Guymon, and Canadian.

According to the Weather Service, roads, bridges, and overpasses will likely become slick and hazardous overnight, making the Thursday morning commute difficult across the region.

Motorists are urged to slow down, leave extra stopping distance, and avoid unnecessary travel where possible. Road condition updates are available by calling 844-465-4997 in Oklahoma or 800-452-9292 in Texas.

Snow is expected to taper off by midday Thursday as the system moves east, but temperatures will remain below freezing, keeping icy spots possible through the afternoon.
