Dallas, Texas – Strong morning storms are rolling across North and Central Texas Sunday, bringing a risk of damaging winds, lightning, and small hail through 1 p.m., especially in areas northeast of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.

According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, a complex of storms is moving across eastern North Texas, including Sherman, Canton, and Paris, with isolated severe threats continuing until early afternoon. The main concerns are 40–60 mph wind gusts, frequent lightning strikes, and pockets of hail.

Cities along and east of I-35E—including DFW, Canton, and Palestine—should be alert for sudden downpours and fast-moving cells. Power outages and downed limbs are possible, especially where gusts exceed 50 mph. Early morning commuters should avoid flooded low-lying roads and use extreme caution under lightning-heavy cells.

Residents are urged to secure outdoor items, check for real-time alerts, and delay travel where storms are strongest. The morning system is expected to weaken by early afternoon but could give way to more intense development later in the day near and south of I-20.

More severe storms are possible from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m., with larger hail and stronger winds forecast for Central Texas, including Waco and Killeen.
