Albuquerque, New Mexico – Thunderstorms could disrupt evening commutes across central New Mexico beginning Monday afternoon, with multiple rounds of showers expected through Wednesday night.

According to the National Weather Service in Albuquerque, a 50% chance of thunderstorms begins Monday after 3 p.m., with some storms capable of producing brief downpours and gusty winds. Rain chances increase to 60% Tuesday night as moisture deepens over the region, with lingering storm activity likely through at least Wednesday evening.

Albuquerque may see brief street flooding and reduced visibility during peak storms, especially Tuesday night. Rainfall totals are generally expected to remain below a quarter-inch, but localized downpours could exceed that in thunderstorms. Winds will shift throughout the period, ranging from southeast to west at 5–15 mph.

Residents in Bernalillo and surrounding counties should monitor changing conditions and avoid driving through flooded roadways. It’s also a good idea to secure outdoor items and keep phones charged ahead of possible power outages.

Though Thursday brings drier air, slight rain chances persist through Thursday night. More storms may develop late in the week depending on monsoonal patterns.

Warnings remain in effect through Wednesday evening, with updates expected daily from NWS.
