East Texas, TX – The National Weather Service has issued Tornado Watch No. 634, effective from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. CDT Tuesday, covering much of East Texas and Western Louisiana. Forecasters warn that conditions are favorable for tornado development, large hail, and damaging winds through the evening hours.
According to the Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma, the watch includes 17 counties in Texas — among them Angelina, Hardin, Jasper, Jefferson, Liberty, Polk, Nacogdoches, Orange, Rusk, San Augustine, Shelby, and Tyler — and 19 parishes in Louisiana, including Allen, Beauregard, Bossier, Caddo, Calcasieu, De Soto, Natchitoches, Rapides, and Vernon.
Meteorologists say the storms are expected to intensify into the evening, especially along the I-10 and I-20 corridors, as a cold front collides with warm, humid Gulf air. Residents are urged to monitor local weather alerts, ensure phones are charged, and have a safe shelter plan ready in case warnings are issued.
Drivers traveling between Beaumont, Lufkin, Shreveport, and Alexandria should remain cautious as visibility could quickly deteriorate in severe storms.
