Houston, TX – Southeast Texas is set to experience scorching temperatures this week, with Houston forecasted to see highs nearing 100 degrees. According to the US National Weather Service Houston-Galveston Texas, the maximum temperatures and heat index forecasts over the next seven days will likely require heat advisories.

The National Weather Service predicts temperatures will climb to 96 degrees today, followed by even hotter conditions on Wednesday and Thursday, with highs reaching 98 degrees. By Friday, temperatures are expected to peak at 100 degrees, before slightly dropping to 99 degrees on Saturday. Sunday’s forecast indicates a high of 96 degrees. The heat index, which measures how hot it feels when humidity is factored in, will be significantly higher, reaching up to 112 degrees in some areas.

Residents are advised to take necessary precautions to stay safe in the extreme heat. Tips include staying hydrated, avoiding strenuous outdoor activities during peak heat, seeking air-conditioned environments, and checking on vulnerable individuals such as the elderly and young children. Pets should also be protected from the heat, with ample shade and water provided, and never left in parked cars.
