San Antonio, Texas – Scorching temperatures are creeping back into Central and South Texas, with highs nearing 100°F in San Antonio and Austin by Saturday and heat indices topping 108°F across several counties.

According to the National Weather Service Austin/San Antonio, most of the region will remain dry today, though an isolated thunderstorm may flare up this afternoon along the U.S. Highway 77 corridor near Cuero and Gonzales. Partly cloudy skies will offer minimal relief as temperatures climb into the mid to upper 90s.

Eagle Pass and Del Rio are expected to breach the 100°F mark by this afternoon, with heat intensifying into the weekend. By Sunday, areas like Carrizo Springs could see actual highs of 106°F and heat index values over 110°F. The humidity, amplified by recent rainfall and evapotranspiration, is pushing heat indices higher and raising the potential for Heat Advisories starting Friday.

Texans are urged to limit outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours, stay hydrated, wear light clothing, and check on vulnerable neighbors. Cooling centers and shaded areas should be utilized whenever possible.

The heat dome will persist through early next week, with no major cold front relief in sight. Additional advisories may be issued through Monday.
