Lubbock, TX – Residents of the Rolling Plains should prepare for dense fog impacting visibility during the early hours of Christmas Eve morning. Motorists are advised to use extreme caution, especially along U.S. Route 62 and State Highway 114, as visibility could drop below one mile in some areas.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Lubbock, fog is expected to blanket the region through 11 a.m. before clearing by the afternoon. Localized freezing fog may create slick conditions on bridges and overpasses in the far southern Texas Panhandle. Winds will remain light at 5 to 10 mph, minimizing fog dissipation before late morning.

After the fog lifts, Christmas Day will feature mostly sunny skies with a high near 55°F. The calm weather will continue into Wednesday, with lows in the upper 30s overnight. Looking ahead, the extended forecast predicts sunny and mild conditions through the weekend, with highs nearing 60°F on Thursday and Friday.

Travelers should remain alert for hazardous driving conditions early Christmas morning, particularly on rural roads and highways prone to fog accumulation. Keep headlights on low beam and maintain a safe following distance.

Be sure to monitor updates from the NWS and local authorities for the latest weather conditions.
