Dallas, TX – North Texas is preparing for dangerously cold temperatures and icy conditions as an arctic front pushes into the region. Wind chills could drop as low as 10 below zero in parts of North Texas, with icy roads expected to create hazardous travel conditions.

According to the National Weather Service, an Extreme Cold Warning is in effect from Tuesday night through Thursday morning for North and Central Texas. Wind chills could cause frostbite in minutes, making it crucial to limit time outdoors. Additionally, a Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for Tuesday evening as freezing rain and drizzle could lead to slick roads and dangerous travel.

Wednesday will see highs near 27°F with gusty north winds making it feel much colder. By Thursday, skies clear, but the bitter cold lingers, with a morning low around 15°F. A warming trend is expected by the weekend, with highs reaching the mid-60s by Sunday.

Residents should dress in layers, check on vulnerable neighbors, and avoid using generators indoors. Drivers should use caution, especially on bridges and overpasses. Stay updated with local forecasts and road conditions at drivetexas.org.
