Texarkana, Ark. – Strong storms are expected to impact parts of southwest Arkansas, southeast Oklahoma, and northeast Texas through 3 p.m. Saturday as a Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect.

According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, Watch 316 includes nine Arkansas counties—Union, Columbia, Hempstead, Howard, Lafayette, Little River, Miller, Nevada, and Sevier—along with McCurtain County in Oklahoma and Bowie County in Texas. Damaging wind gusts and large hail are the main hazards, particularly along Highway 82 and I-30 corridors.

Cities under threat include Texarkana, El Dorado, Hope, and De Queen, where outdoor events and travel could be impacted. Power outages are possible if strong winds down trees or lines. Residents are urged to monitor local alerts, secure loose outdoor items, and avoid unnecessary travel during storm activity.

This is part of a broader severe weather pattern sweeping across the Ark-La-Tex region. Conditions may intensify rapidly, and additional warnings could be issued.

Severe Thunderstorm Watch 316 remains in effect until 3 p.m., with more updates expected early this evening.
