Memphis, Tennessee – Heavy rain is expected to drench much of the Mid-South through Tuesday, with some areas, including Memphis and surrounding counties, likely to receive over 4 inches of rain in just four days.
According to the National Weather Service in Memphis, repeated rounds of showers and thunderstorms will roll through the region from Friday night through Tuesday. Widespread totals of 2 to 4 inches are likely, with localized amounts exceeding 4 inches, especially in central and northern parts of west Tennessee and eastern Arkansas.
Memphis, Bolivar, and Dyersburg sit in the bullseye, with a 48% to 58% chance of seeing more than 4 inches of rainfall. Travel could become hazardous on major routes like I-40 and US-51 as saturated ground and ponding increase risks through the holiday weekend.
Residents should prepare for possible flash flooding, especially in low-lying or poor-drainage areas. If you have outdoor plans, secure a backup option and stay alert to changing conditions.
Rainfall is expected to taper off late Tuesday, but additional advisories may be issued if saturation or flooding worsens. Stay connected to the latest updates from NWS Memphis.
