Nashville, Tenn. – Drivers in Middle Tennessee should prepare for reduced visibility early Tuesday as dense patchy fog lingers through sunrise, creating potential hazards during the morning commute.

According to the National Weather Service in Nashville, fog began developing overnight and will gradually lift after 7 a.m. Temperatures will rise quickly once the fog clears, with highs reaching the mid to upper 70s across the region by early afternoon. This mild trend is expected to hold through the weekend, with highs generally ranging between 70°F and 78°F and lows in the 40s and 50s.

Visibility could drop below a quarter-mile in low-lying areas, particularly along I-40, I-24, and secondary roads near rivers and valleys. Motorists are advised to use headlights, reduce speed, and allow extra time for travel early this morning.

Sunshine will dominate most of the day, offering a pleasant break from recent storm systems. This week’s temperatures will remain slightly cooler than typical May averages, with no major weather disruptions anticipated at this time.

Fog is expected to dissipate by mid-morning Tuesday. Another round of updates will be issued if travel conditions worsen or advisories are needed.
