Nashville, Tennessee – Brutal summer heat is gripping Middle Tennessee as heat index values soar to 107° through Friday evening, prompting a regional summer weather alert.

According to the National Weather Service in Nashville, a Heat Advisory remains in effect until 7 PM CDT Friday for nearly 50 counties, including Davidson, Sumner, Wilson, Montgomery, Rutherford, and Williamson. Daytime highs will reach 98° Thursday with heat index values topping 106°, before slightly easing to 94° Friday. Roads like I-40, I-65, and I-24 will be especially dangerous for drivers without air conditioning or proper hydration.

Residents are urged to limit outdoor activity, drink water frequently, and check on vulnerable neighbors. Heat-related illnesses remain a serious risk during peak afternoon hours. The humidity will also remain high, making overnight relief limited and increasing the strain on power grids and cooling systems.

Expect partly sunny skies Friday with a small 20% chance of isolated thunderstorms after 11 a.m. Winds will stay light, adding little natural cooling to the oppressive temperatures.

🔎 What’s Next This Weekend:

Rain chances rise Saturday afternoon with storms possible after 1 p.m. Highs remain near 93°. Sunday brings likely showers and a welcome cooldown into the upper 80s. Relief continues Monday with more scattered storms and a high near 90°.
