According to the National Weather Service in Morristown, visibility is expected to drop to a quarter-mile or less in many areas, creating hazardous driving conditions. Additionally, some spots may experience freezing fog as temperatures hover at or below freezing, increasing the risk of slick roads and bridges.
The advisory covers multiple counties, including Knox, Anderson, Roane, Loudon, Sevier, and Monroe, as well as cities such as Knoxville, Oak Ridge, Sevierville, and Athens. Drivers are urged to slow down, use headlights, and maintain a safe following distance.
The fog is expected to lift later in the morning as temperatures rise. Travelers should check road conditions and allow extra travel time.
