Key West, FL – Boaters in the Florida Keys are advised to exercise caution as a Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 7 a.m. EST Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service in Key West, dense fog is reducing visibility to one nautical mile or less across bay and gulf waters, including the Dry Tortugas and areas beyond five fathoms. The affected regions stretch from Craig Key to the west end of Seven Mile Bridge, as well as the Gulf waters from East Cape Sable to Chokoloskee.

Low visibility poses a significant navigation hazard, particularly for inexperienced boaters. The NWS advises mariners to avoid travel if possible. Those who must operate vessels should use radar, GPS, and compass navigation, ensure running lights are on, and listen for fog signals. A lookout should also be posted away from engine noise.

Conditions are expected to improve after sunrise as fog begins to lift. Mariners should stay updated on local weather alerts and exercise extreme caution while traveling through affected waters.
