HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – North Alabama’s recent stretch of mild summer days is ending as tropical-like humidity returns this weekend, pushing heat indices close to triple digits early next week. Residents across the Tennessee Valley can expect highs in the upper 80s, muggy overnight lows in the low 70s, and rising storm chances through Tuesday.

According to the National Weather Service in Huntsville, Saturday will bring highs of 86–93 degrees with only a slight (5–10%) chance of rain. By Sunday, humidity levels climb further, with heat indices topping out near 99 degrees and rain chances increasing to 15–30%.

Monday and Tuesday will bring the stickiest conditions, with heat indices ranging from 92 to 99 degrees and rain chances jumping to 30–60%. Scattered storms could briefly cool some areas, but the added moisture will only intensify the mugginess.

Officials urge residents to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity during peak afternoon heat, and check on vulnerable neighbors. The combination of high temperatures and oppressive humidity can lead to heat-related illnesses if precautions aren’t taken.

More heat advisories are possible if conditions worsen by midweek.
