Germantown, TN – Tennessee communities are preparing for more rain and flooding today as the remnants of Hurricane Francine continue to drench the region. Germantown has already been hit with 6.9 inches of rain, and surrounding areas like Bartlett, Memphis, and Olive Branch have seen totals exceeding 5 inches. More storms are expected through the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the region could see another 2-3 inches of rain by Sunday, with flash flood warnings still in effect. Bartlett recorded 4.9 inches, while Olive Branch reached 4.3 inches, contributing to widespread concerns about road closures, overflowing rivers, and hazardous driving conditions. Shelby County residents are especially urged to avoid low-lying areas and flood-prone roads, as water levels continue to rise rapidly.

The NWS advises residents to stay indoors when possible and keep emergency supplies on hand, including sandbags for those living in flood zones. As the remnants of Hurricane Francine move out of the area, forecasters warn that downed power lines, blocked roads, and localized flooding could persist into next week. Residents should closely monitor updates from local authorities and prepare for potential evacuations in the hardest-hit areas.
