Van Buren, Ark. — Arkansas State Police seized over 300 pounds of illegal drugs during four recent traffic stops on Interstate 40, arresting several individuals, including a Tennessee resident.

On Wednesday, troopers stopped a rented Nissan Kicks near the 5-mile marker. The search uncovered 22 one-pound packages of marijuana and 170 rolled marijuana joints. Officers arrested Delavontay Davis, 36, of Goodlettsville, Tenn., along with Tedra Hendricks, 29, of Columbia, S.C., on reported felony charges of possession with intent to deliver and drug paraphernalia. Davis reportedly told investigators he was traveling to Nashville.

That same day, another vehicle stop revealed 16 pounds of marijuana and over a pound of methamphetamine. In earlier stops, troopers found a staggering 258 pounds of marijuana and other drugs in a van and eight pounds of marijuana in an SUV.

The seized drugs add to a rising concern about interstate narcotics trafficking involving Tennessee residents. Law enforcement continues to target high-traffic routes for drug transport.
