Nashville, TN – The investigation into a fatal October 5 hit-and-run crash has led to the arrest of Orlin Argueta-Zuniga, 29, for helping his uncle flee the U.S. Walter Daneris Zuniga, 39, allegedly drove the car that killed 10-year-old Emily Sanchez-Ramirez on Nolensville Pike. The young girl and her mother were riding a scooter when struck.

Argueta-Zuniga admitted to investigators that he helped Zuniga escape. According to officials, Zuniga hid the vehicle at their shared home. Argueta-Zuniga then cashed Zuniga’s final paycheck and bought him a bus ticket to Texas, enabling him to cross the U.S. border into Mexico.

Authorities charged Argueta-Zuniga with accessory after the fact and obstruction. He is currently jailed on a $7,500 bond. Meanwhile, officials are working to locate Zuniga and bring him back to face charges in the U.S.

Sanchez-Ramirez’s mother, Laura Ramirez-Gonzalez, 28, remains hospitalized at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
