Memphis, TN – The Mid-South will experience intense heat next week, with temperatures soaring near or above 100 degrees. The National Weather Service in Memphis forecasts a dangerous heat wave that will begin Saturday and extend into late next week.

The hottest days are expected to start on Monday, with highs around 97 degrees. Tuesday through Thursday will likely bring more of the same, as temperatures climb to a stifling 97-100 degrees. Monday’s forecast marks the beginning of these extreme conditions, which will last throughout the week. Residents should take precautions, as temperatures remain above normal and rain chances are minimal.

According to the National Weather Service, areas across the Mid-South, including Memphis, Jackson, and Tupelo, will all see triple-digit heat. The heat wave could be dangerous for those without adequate cooling or hydration. Cooling centers and other heat-related resources may become necessary.

Meteorologists advise avoiding outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours and staying hydrated. Temperatures are expected to cool slightly by the following weekend, though conditions will remain dry. Rain is unlikely until at least Friday.
