Memphis, TN – Mississippi River flooding continues to impact Memphis as the river remains well above flood stage, with dangers expected through Friday, April 25. Local roads including I-55 near the riverfront and fuel terminals south of the river gauge are experiencing rising water, prompting travel and safety concerns.

According to the National Weather Service in Memphis, the Mississippi River measured at 38.2 feet Tuesday evening. Flood stage is 34.0 feet. The river is forecast to drop below flood stage by Thursday, April 24, but flooding will remain a threat into Friday. Residents are urged not to drive through flooded roads or around barricades. Walking near riverbanks is also discouraged due to potential erosion and instability.

Areas affected include Tiptonville, Caruthersville, Osceola, and Memphis, along with parts of Arkansas such as Helena and Tunica Mhoon Landing. Fuel terminals and low-lying infrastructure near the river remain vulnerable.
