Memphis, TN – Residents across Tennessee are waking up to a frosty Friday with temperatures hovering in the low 20s. Highs today are only expected to reach 38 degrees, about five degrees below the seasonal average. However, warmer conditions are on the way as rain and storms move into the area late this weekend.
According to the National Weather Service, Saturday will remain sunny with highs near 52, making it an excellent day for outdoor activities. Overnight into Sunday, clouds will increase, setting the stage for widespread showers by midday Sunday. Temperatures will climb to an unseasonably warm 56 degrees before heavy rain intensifies Sunday night. Thunderstorms could bring up to two inches of rainfall, potentially causing slick roads and localized flooding, especially along I-55 and low-lying areas.
Looking into next week, rain chances will linger into Monday with highs near 64. A cold front will sweep through Monday night, dropping temperatures back into the 40s by midweek. Tuesday brings a mix of sun and scattered showers, with a high of 56.
Residents are encouraged to prepare for wet conditions on Sunday and Monday by ensuring gutters are cleared and checking for potential flooding in flood-prone areas. Plan travel accordingly, as the rain could slow traffic along major highways.
