Nashville, TN – A freezing rain event is expected to impact Middle Tennessee early Sunday, prompting a Winter Weather Advisory from 3 a.m. to noon CST. Areas north of I-40, including Clarksville, Lebanon, and Gallatin, may experience up to one-tenth of an inch of ice accumulation, creating slippery roads and potential travel delays.
According to the National Weather Service, freezing rain will primarily affect Montgomery, Robertson, and Sumner counties, with impacts extending to portions of the Cumberland Plateau by Sunday afternoon. Hazardous conditions could make bridges, overpasses, and untreated roads particularly dangerous. Residents are advised to slow down, allow extra time for travel, and prepare for potential power outages.
The remainder of Saturday will remain clear but cold, with highs around 41 degrees in Nashville and 36 degrees in Crossville. Overnight lows will dip into the upper 20s, setting the stage for freezing precipitation. Sunday’s highs are expected to reach the mid-40s, transitioning the freezing rain into regular rainfall by the afternoon.
Looking ahead, Monday will bring warmer temperatures, with highs near 50 and scattered showers. Dry weather is forecast to return Tuesday and Wednesday, with sunny skies and highs in the upper 40s.
Drivers are encouraged to check road conditions by dialing 511 and ensure their vehicles are winter-ready. Stay informed by monitoring updates from the National Weather Service as the storm approaches.
