Rensselaer, NY – Snow showers and gusty winds are forecast to continue across the region Sunday, creating potentially hazardous travel conditions. Temperatures will remain cold, with highs around 28°F and lows dipping into the teens by evening.

According to the National Weather Service, light snow accumulations of up to half an inch are possible Sunday, with winds reaching up to 26 mph. A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for nearby Herkimer, Fulton, and Montgomery counties through Sunday afternoon, increasing concerns for icy patches on roads, including Route 9 and I-90.

Saturday night, scattered snow showers are expected to taper off before returning Sunday afternoon. Residents should prepare for reduced visibility and slippery surfaces during peak travel times. If driving, reduce speeds and maintain safe distances.

The extended forecast predicts mostly cloudy skies Monday, with highs near 23°F. Tuesday will bring partly sunny conditions but remains cold, with lows dropping to 11°F. Another round of snow is possible midweek as temperatures hover in the mid-20s.

The first week of January will remain chilly and active, making preparedness essential. Keep snow shovels and ice melt ready, and monitor updates for any shifts in the forecast.

Be sure to check road conditions before heading out and dress in layers to stay warm during outdoor activities.
