Memphis, TN – Frigid temperatures and rising river levels will impact Tennessee this weekend as a Cold Weather Advisory and Flood Advisory remain in effect.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Memphis, the Mississippi River is expected to rise to 28.9 feet by Monday, potentially causing flooding in low-lying areas. Meanwhile, wind chills could drop as low as 1°F Friday night into Saturday morning, raising risks of frostbite and hypothermia.
Weekend Forecast:
• Saturday: High near 40°F, light winds.
• Saturday Night: Low around 26°F, mostly clear.
• Sunday: Sunny, high near 52°F.
• Sunday Night: Low of 36°F, clear skies.
• Monday: Warmer with a high near 62°F.
Residents should bundle up, limit outdoor exposure, and avoid flooded roadways. The NWS warns that frostbite can occur within minutes in extreme cold. Travelers should check local conditions before heading out.
