Memphis, TN – An Arctic blast will send temperatures plunging across Tennessee this week, with Memphis facing subzero wind chills and possible snow. Residents should prepare for hazardous travel and bitter cold as a winter storm threatens midweek disruptions.
According to the National Weather Service, Monday will bring mostly sunny skies with a high near 43°F. By Tuesday night, snow showers could mix with rain before turning into all snow after midnight, with gusty winds up to 25 mph. Wednesday morning could see additional snowfall, creating slick roads during the morning commute. Highs will struggle to reach 26°F, while wind chills could make it feel even colder.
By Wednesday night, temperatures will drop to 12°F, with frigid conditions persisting into Thursday. Forecasters expect highs in the mid-20s, with another cold night dipping into the teens. Friday offers slight relief, with sunshine and highs near 31°F.
Drivers should check road conditions before heading out, especially on I-40 and I-55. Officials urge residents to dress in layers, keep emergency kits in their vehicles, and prepare homes for extreme cold.
